Part 1: Anyone can do video marketing - yes, even you!

This is part of my series that stemmed from a recent webinar I did for the Fort Collins Internet Pros (FCIP) group.

Why you should get into video and stats

Transcript of the video:

“Why should I get into video?”

I have stats on the next slide, but this one is really an overview. Videos are a great part of an overall strategy for your marketing, so they should never live in isolation. They can do all these things, you know, increase awareness and drive traffic and drive conversions for your business.

But they really thrive when videos are a part of your bigger content and or marketing strategy. And I want to just add a side note, although videos are part of the digital marketing space, they can also be of an offline thing too. Like with out of home placements like public transit, at events, like conferences, trade shows, that sort of thing.

And I actually have a client who wants to have a QR code at the end of her video because she’s using the video in offline events and wants viewers to have another easy way to get to the website. So those are kind of some different ways that videos can be used that aren't maybe typical.

“But really, why should I get into video?”

I just have two stats on here that are my all-time favorites. And the first one, the viewers retain 95% of the message when they watch a video compared to 10% when they're reading it in text (source). I feel like is that it could be read as like a binary, like either video or text.

I actually read it as that the videos can improve text.

So like videos with blogs, there are ways that the blog can support that video and [vice versa] that the text can support video. And this ties in a little bit more into the SEO side of things.

And then, the second stat that I really like is that 84% of people say they've been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand's video (source).

I think that this one is just really powerful for people to realize because, you know, sometimes with content, it's like a slow burn to get to the bottom of the marketing funnel. And video can really be a great way to skip down a whole little bit and and get down further in the funnel a little bit quicker sometimes.

Suffice it to say, video has been proven to increase traffic, increase sales, hold the attention of visitors on your site and amplify other forms of content like blogs.
